Welcome
I have loved photography for as long as I can remember. This blog gives you the chance to see my passion in the form of images. Images captured for myself. For others. For the pure joy that they bring to me and those around me.
In my blog you will find images and moments shared to bring joy to you as well. |
My passion has been magnified unbelievably because of this group of talented photographers. I love photography. I have loved photography for as long as I can remember. I remember when I was young, my mom had a Canon camera that her friends would ask her to do pictures with. It was never a serious thing for her, just helping out her friends or family at an event or special occasion. As I grew up, I remember having my own camera (not a nice Canon or anything like that) but my own camera that I would use to take pictures around my house. I would go outside and find things I thought were pretty or chase down the dog...or even set up a flower in a vase with a sheet behind it. I would use rolls and rolls and rolls of film. Yes - film. I am THAT old. When I had kids, I decided to get my own "nice" camera to start doing their pictures. It started with my daughter going into Pre-K and us spending hours walking around Calvert, Texas with me posing her and capturing shots. That turned into my friends asking if I could do pictures of their kids or special occasions. My love for photography grew and grew. I found classes to attend to learn more. I found groups of fellow photographers to learn from. I gained friends that were also photographers who could teach me more. But none of those compare to the group that I am now a part of . Shootcrew. This group started in College Station because a member of a Shootcrew group in Dallas who got tired of traveling 3 hours one way to attend sessions. Samantha. One of my new friends and new favorite people. She worked hard to get the group started and hasn't stopped working since. Every single stylized event that I post about is coordinated by her. Not only does she book models and hair and make up artists, schedule the venue, and purchase props and supplies, she also creates many of the items that the models wear! She pours her heart and soul in to every one of our shoots and it shows! She is so talented! Being a part of this group has opened my eyes to the world of photography like no other. We have sessions that have 20 or more people come and we also have sessions where only 2 or 3 people come. No matter what the group looks like, I am amazed to see the shots that each photographer captures. We may all have our cameras pointed at the same model, but each photographer captures it in a different way to where each shot speaks in a different voice. The models volunteer their time and talent in exchange for photos of themselves to use in their portfolio. The same goes for the hair and makeup artists. And the businesses that donate items. And the venues that grant us access to their beautiful buildings. Together, we all make up a collaboration of creatives that wow me with each and every session. I know that this blog entry is different than all of the others that are full of beautiful smiling faces, but I just had to express my love for this amazing group and give it the shout out it deserves. I have gained so much knowledge from the other photographers in this group - photographers that I am now proud to call my friends.
